Summary

We are an Islamic Boys Secondary school that specialises in Hifdh and Islamiyah but we also have developed a strong National Curriculum.

We are currently recruiting for a new science teacher to join our outstanding team for tthis school year.

You must have a solid understanding of the National Curriculum standards and have experience closing the achievement gap, and you must also develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. You will be someone who incorporates technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment.

Purpose

  • Create schemes of work with lesson plans and learning activities for students based on national, local and school standards in science education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviours.
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using a variety of proven methods.
  • Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject.
  • Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks or other standard test practices.
  • Mark work according to school policy, giving appropriate feedback including at parent consultations and maintaining records of pupils' progress and development
  • Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modelling expected behaviour and standards, promoting positive interactions and quickly addressing behaviours that are not in line with the school discipline plan. Our school places great emphasis on character building and Islamic etiquette and all staff are expected to promote this.
  • Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress, potential and behaviour periodically through phone or electronic means and at parent and teacher conferences.
  • Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content to students.
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of the great contribution Muslim scholars have made to science to develop in pupils a pride in their cultural and spiritual heritage.
  • Participate in and organising extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
  • Undergo regular observations and participating in regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD)

Head teacher, Deputy Head, Head of National Curriculum

Qualifications needed:

Bachelor’s degree in science, science education or another related field. Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary Science.
