We are seeking a flexible and reliable individual who has an eye for detail to either job share with another cleaner (2 and 3 days per weeks on alternate weeks) or work 5 days per week every week during term time. Ideal candidate will also be available to provide cover outside of normal working days where the other cleaner is absent (in the case of job share).

Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school.

Hours: 1.5 hours/2 hours per day after school, 2 and 3 days per week (alternating every two weeks) or 5 days per week, during term time.

Start and End Time: Between 3:30PM – 6:00PM

Salary: £7.85 per hour

Contract: Part Time and Fixed Term 1 Year

Location: Barking

Person Specification

A school cleaner's role includes:

  • Cleaning of the school site
  • Vacuuming (or sweeping) and mopping floor
  • Emptying and cleaning bins
  • Spot cleaning of spillages
  • Cleaning desks, seats and skirting boards
  • Cleaning toilet areas and replenishing toiletries
  • Cleaning doors and windows
  • Washing dishes
  • Washing art/science equipment
  • Checking stock levels of cleaning materials
  • Report all defects/hazards immediately to the caretaker or administrators or headteacher
  • Any other task requested by headteacher/staff

Skills and experience you will need

  • A good level of fitness
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Able to manage time effectively
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Basic literacy/numeracy skills to read instructions and measuring cleaning fluids
