Assunnah Early Years is part of Assunnah Primary school. The EYFS is currently extending its services and thus requires committed and enthusiastic practitioners to join its team.

Assunnah Early Years consists of a Nursery class and Reception class. The Nursery class is a registered Nursery, which provides a safe and comfortable environment for 2 to 4 year olds. We believe in striving to provide the best standard of education for every single child at our setting, through equality, professional care, and an excellent standard of education. At Assunnah Early Years, we strive to nurture our children’s spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and emotional spheres. Our aim is to ensure our children realise their full individual potential, ready to start school at the end of their time with us.

We also follow the Early Year Framework, which clearly indicates that a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. Thus, we aim to provide a secure, comfortable, and safe setting to nurture children to flourish within an Islamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for and to oversee the day to day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of Assunnah Early Years.
  • To manage the provision of the nursery ensuring that children, parents and the staff team work together to provide high quality childcare.
  • To agree and set nursery goals and monitor the achievement of progress against targets.
  • To monitor and assess the quality of provision ensuring that policies and procedures, best practice and standards are maintained.
  • To follow the EYFS Framework and create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
  • To be a member of the management team and to contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of Assunnah EYFS.
  • To be responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of children between 2 to five years in accordance with statutory requirements. 

Job Specification

Degree, and teaching (PGCE/GTP/QTS) and relevant childcare EYFS qualification

Qualification in teaching and knowledge of EYFS to OFSTED standards

Experience in working with young child is essential

Other experience related to childcare

Previous relevant supervisory experience

Experience in nursery duties such as observations, profiles, focus activity planning, daily planning, liaising with parents and outside agencies, and positive behaviour management strategies.

Experience in giving out appraisals and conducting performance management reviews

An understanding of child protection issues and confidentiality

A commitment to keeping up to date with developments in early years care and education

An understanding of using and updating local authority finance and funding records

Knowledge of special needs and procedures for identification and providing support which includes liaising with other agencies.

Excellent inter-personal skills

The ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way

Excellent level of customer service

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Strong written and spoken communication skills

Strong people management skills in order to develop, motivate and performance-manage the team

Experience of working as part of a team and using own initiative

The ability to meet deadlines and targets

Ability to achieve and maintain high standards of care and education

Ability to ensure all policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to at all times

Management of all day-to-day operations of the Early Years Centre

Able to accommodate the flexible working hours that may be required in the position.

Job Description:

As an Early Years Manager you will motivate, encourage and train a group of Nursery and Reception Teachers to liaison with parents/carers, help children settle at our nursery and ensure that their needs (in terms of race, culture, religion, language, and family values) are being met. You will also be required to manage the day-to-day running of the early years centre, train staff members on how to observe, keep records, and monitor their children’s progress, and talk to and encourage parents to participate in their child’s development. You will assist children to develop and foster Islamic principles in their daily activities.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check, employment references and completion of a medical questionnaire. We welcome applications from all ethnic backgrounds.
