London Islamic School (LIS) is an independent Islamic secondary school for boys aged between 11- 16. We aim to provide pupils with a broad and balanced education in a caring, safe and well ordered environment to develop their academic skills and Islamic values in order that they may practice Islam with God consciousness and sincerity.  By the grace of Allah, LIS were granted the ‘AMS UK Headteacher of the Year Award 2010 and Non Teaching Staff of the year award 2011’, in addition the ‘Nida Trust ‘Creativity and Innovation’ Sports Award 2011, Numeracy Award 2017 and Citizenship Award 2017’ which demonstrates the schools culture in to continually working to improve standards.  This is reflective in the schools Ofsted inspections over the last ten years whereby the school has remained consistently a 'Good school with some outstanding features' in inspections in 2008, 2011, 2014 and most recently this year in 2018.

We currently have a unique permanent opportunity for academic year 2018-19 starting from October 2018, for the position of English Teacher at London Islamic School. This role will require the candidate to:

Deliver English lessons to 5 classes from KS3 and KS4 (Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10 and Y11) following the already existent scheme of work, yet with candidates own creative approach.

  • Coordinate, develop and support literacy across the curriculum
  • Administer and submit lesson plans, assessments and other necessary paperwork for classes in line with school policy.
  • Commit to internal and external continuous professional development
  • Support and work in line with the school’s ethos and vision
  • Have high expectations of students
  • Be a positive role model to students spiritually and academically.
  • Contribute to wider professional responsibility at school.
  • Be enthusiastic, ambitious, organised and motivational as an individual.
  • Have at least an English related degree (Essential), have or working towards attaining QTS (Desirable) and some teaching experience (Essential)

Contract Type:            Full Time

Contract Term:           Permanent

Hours Per Week:        32.5 Hours per week
