London Islamic School (LIS) is an independent Islamic secondary school for boys aged   between 11- 16.  We aim to provide pupils with a broad and balanced education in a caring, safe and well ordered environment to develop their academic skills and Islamic values in  order that they may practice Islam with God consciousness and sincerity.  By the grace of Allah, LIS were granted the AMS UK Headteacher of the Year Award 2010, Nida Trust Creativity and Innovation Sports Award 2011, AMS UK Non-Teaching Staff of the year Award 2012, Nida Trust Creativity and Innovation Numeracy Award 2017, Nida Trust Creativity and Innovation Citizenship Award 2017, Mayor of London Environment and Healthy Living Award 2017, Transport for London STARS School of Excellence Award 2017 and Youth Travel Ambassador Gold STARS accreditation, so we are continually working to improve standards.  This is reflective in the most recent Ofsted inspection in 2018 where the school was graded ‘Good’ in all standards.

We currently have an unique permanent opportunity to start in September 2019, for a part time position as a Creative & Aesthetic Studies and Citizenship/PSHE teacher.

This role will require the candidate to:

  • Deliver 5 lessons, 3 Creative & Aesthetic Studies lessons and 2 Citizenship lessons to KS3 (Y7, Y8, Y9) following the already existent scheme of work, yet with candidates own creative approach.
  • Administer and submit lesson plans, assessments and other necessary paperwork for classes in line with school policy.
  • Commit to internal and external continuous professional development.
  • Support and work in line with the school’s ethos and vision.
  • Have high expectations of students.
  • Be a positive role model to students spiritually and academically.
  • Contribute to wider professional responsibility at school.
  • Be enthusiastic, ambitious, organised and motivational as an individual.
  • Have some background/experience or hobby in the subject and some teaching experience (Essential).
  • Support in promoting literacy and numeracy throughout the school.

Contract Type: Part Time

Contract Term: Permanent

Hours Per Week: 19.5 hours per week (3 days per week)

Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
