Meme Education is a new institution, focusing on excellent educational attainments for our children in Derbyshire.

Job description



As an instructor at Meme Education, your behaviour and conduct will be beyond reproach and you will be an excellent role model for all pupils. This includes modelling enthusiasm for learning. You will share and espouse the institution’s values through word and deed with vigour.


Qualifications, Training & Experience:

You will be a native speaker of Arabic, with experience of instruction of Arabic and living in at least 2 Arabic-speaking countries for extended periods of time

You will be familiar with both modern standard Arabic and classical Arabic

You will have a degree in Arabic (or its equivalent) from a university

You will have prior experience of planning, assessment, behaviour management, use of ICT, for Arabic in a primary setting

You will have instruction experience in a primary school and experience of subject leadership


Knowledge and Understanding:

You will demonstrate that you have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the Arabic language. You will take account of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to their work.

You will be hafiz of Quran


Main Duties:

  • To create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to learning.
  • To help inculcate a positive and happy atmosphere at the institution by having a positive and cheerful demeanour around others.
  • To instruct about Islam and build in others the enthusiasm and inspiration to be a better person.
  • To help with the development of positive behaviour and attitude by being a good role model and a source of support.
  • To plan and prepare lessons in order to deliver the Meme curriculum ensuring breadth and balance in all subjects.
  • To identify clear learning outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations.
  • To maintain good order and discipline, safeguarding health and safety.
  • To plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of learning.
  • To maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping and reporting of progress.
  • To teach Qur’an, basic Arabic language and Islamic Studies
  • To teach to read the Qur’an with full Tajweed.
  • Participate in regular in-service training and meetings, and work as a part of a team.
  • To continue professional development, maintaining a portfolio of training undertaken.
  • To participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the development and co-ordination of a particular area of the curriculum.
